Moltke-Denkmal, Bronze military monument in Martin-Luther-Platz, Düsseldorf, Germany
The Moltke-Denkmal features a large bronze sculpture depicting Field Marshal Helmuth von Moltke alongside decorative figures at its base representing military history.
The monument, created by sculptors Josef Tüshaus and Joseph Hammerschmidt, was inaugurated in 1901 at Heinrich-Heine-Allee before being relocated after World War II damage.
The memorial incorporates symbolic elements, including a blacksmith with a young boy, representing the transfer of military knowledge between generations.
The monument stands near Johanneskirche church and forms part of a memorial trio with the Bismarck and Kaiser Wilhelm monuments at Martin-Luther-Platz.
Only the base figure group 'Blacksmith with Boy' survived the 1943 air raids, leading to its preservation and reinstallation in 1994.
