Moore bei Buxtehude

The Moore bei Buxtehude reserve extends over 1,311 hectares of land, featuring meadows, pastures, birch forests, hedges, and individual trees throughout the protected area.

The nature reserve received its official protected status in 2006, managed jointly by the districts of Stade and Harburg to preserve local ecosystems.

This protected area serves as a European bird sanctuary, drawing nature observers who document the resident corncrake populations in Lower Saxony.

The reserve contains multiple walking paths that traverse different sections, allowing visitors to explore varied landscapes between 1 and 3 meters above sea level.

A network of drainage channels crosses through the reserve, maintaining water levels essential for supporting both lowland and highland moor environments.
