Ostpark, Public park in Ostend, Frankfurt, Germany
Ostpark is a large green space in Frankfurt's eastern district featuring a central lake, open lawns, and sports courts throughout the grounds. Tall poplar and willow trees line the pathways and provide shade for rest areas.
The park was developed in the early 1900s as a recreational space for workers in the surrounding industrial area. It gained historical importance when a major public assembly took place there in 1918 during a time of political change.
The space brings together people from the surrounding neighborhood who come to play, relax by the water, and enjoy outdoor activities together.
Two marked circular paths with benches allow easy walks around the lake and through the green areas. Public restrooms, a kiosk, and grilling areas are available, and most sections are easy to access.
One section of the grounds includes a Citizens' Garden created from a former school garden, featuring rare plants and specialized plantings often overlooked by visitors. This garden area provides a different perspective on the space and its purpose.
