Schulte-Marxloh-Haus

Schulte-Marxloh-Haus, Medieval manor house in Marxloh, Germany.

Schulte-Marxloh House is a manor house in Marxloh, Duisburg, distinguished by water moats and a defensive tower as defining features. The current structure was built between 1859 and 1860 and remains the only surviving building of the original estate complex.

The manor received its first recorded mention in 1421, with Johann serving as the first documented administrator of Marxloh starting in 1458. The family managed the property over centuries before later rebuilding it to meet contemporary needs.

The building served as the administrative center for surrounding farmlands and was the heart of a larger estate complex. Its role as a manor shaped the social structure of the region for centuries.

The building sits at the intersection of Schulte-Marxloh Street and Kaiser-Friedrich Street and is easily reached by public transportation. Visitors should note that it is a private structure viewable from the outside.

The building was placed under heritage protection in November 2009 and is now officially recognized as an architectural monument. This recognition ensures that the structure is preserved for future generations.
