Schloss Gärtringen

Schloss Gärtringen is a château in Baden-Württemberg featuring a massive stone ground floor, timber-framed upper stories, and a hipped roof, situated near the Veitskirche church. The complex includes a courtyard bounded by the main building and two barn structures, along with a walled garden containing 18th-century elements.

In 1728, Johann Heinrich Hiller von Gärtringen commissioned architect Georg Friedrich Majer to construct the current structure, incorporating elements from an earlier building. The family occupied the property for generations before adding a winter garden in 1893.

The entrance portal displays coats of arms belonging to the noble families Hiller and Preysing, crafted by stonemason Marx Hepp from Herrenberg. These heraldic stones reflect the families who shaped the castle and their importance in the region.

The courtyard and outbuildings can be viewed from outside, while the walled garden with historical features provides a quiet setting. Bear in mind the property remains privately owned, so visits are best appreciated from the exterior vantage points.

General Johann Eberhard Rudolf Hiller von Gaertringen spent his childhood within these walls, shaping the family's presence across generations. This connection to a notable military figure added significance to the estate within regional Prussian history.
