Ringturm, Office tower in Neustadt-Nord, Germany.
The Ringturm is a 26-floor office tower standing 109 m (358 ft) tall in the Neustadt-Nord district of Cologne. The building rises as a slender vertical block and is visible from many points across the northern part of the city.
The Ringturm was completed in 1973, during a period when many German cities were building upward to meet demand for office space. The project was part of Cologne's broader effort to develop the area north of the old city center after years of postwar reconstruction.
The tower stands along the Cologne Ring road, a wide boulevard that circles the inner city, and gives this part of Neustadt-Nord a recognizable vertical accent. People walking through the area tend to use it as a visual reference point, as it rises clearly above the lower buildings around it.
The tower sits along the main Ring road and is easy to reach on foot from the central train station or by public transport. The surrounding streets are busy during weekday hours, so early morning or evening visits offer a calmer walk around the area.
The building takes its name directly from the Ring road it faces, which is unusual as most of Cologne's towers carry the names of their builders or companies. Seen from street level, the tower appears taller than expected because the blocks around it have stayed low over the decades.
