Deutsches Burgenmuseum, Medieval castle museum in Heldburg, Germany
The German Castle Museum spans 3,000 square meters across 40 rooms within the French building of Veste Heldburg, presenting medieval fortification exhibits.
The museum, inaugurated on September 8, 2016, moved from its initial planned location in Cadolzburg, Bavaria, to Veste Heldburg after extended construction.
The permanent collection features original artifacts, authentic rooms, scale models, and multimedia displays that document castle architecture and medieval life.
Visitors can explore the museum from Tuesday to Sunday between April and October from 10:00 to 17:00, with reduced hours during winter months.
The exhibition includes one of the oldest medieval wall paintings depicting a knight battle, which has been displayed since April 2020.
