The Museum für angewandte Kunst Frankfurt occupies a white building designed by Richard Meier, featuring extensive glass surfaces and geometric structures.
Founded in 1877 by the Mitteldeutsche Kunstgewerbe-Verein, the museum moved to its current location in 1985 when Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker inaugurated the building.
The collection encompasses 65,000 works spanning five millennia, with particular emphasis on European crafts and design from the 12th to 21st centuries.
The museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00, with extended hours until 20:00 on Wednesdays, and includes the Restaurant Emma Metzler.
The museum incorporates the historical Villa Metzler, which presents examples of living culture from Baroque to Art Nouveau periods within its preserved rooms.
