Neckarau

Located in southwestern Mannheim along the Rhine River, Neckarau extends over 10.98 square kilometers and houses more than 31,000 residents.

First documented in 871 under the name Naucrauia, Neckarau transformed into a trading center during the 15th century due to its Rhine River location.

The district features two main religious centers: Saint James Catholic Church and Matthew Protestant Church, which serve the local religious communities.

Residents access public transportation through multiple urban rail lines and bus routes, while a ferry connects to the neighboring town of Altrip.

The district coat of arms displays the waves of the Neckar River and plant rows, derived from a judicial seal dating back to 1520.
