Glehn Castle

Glehn Castle is a manor house with Gothic Revival architecture situated in Hiiu, Tallinn. Its limestone walls and wooden details feature intricate reliefs and inscriptions in multiple languages, while an adjacent half-underground palm house displays a colorful glass mosaic roof.

Baron Nikolai von Glehn built this residence in 1886 as a private estate, but following his departure to Germany in 1918, the building endured extensive looting. Subsequent management changes shaped its use until the present day.

The surrounding park contains large sculptures representing figures from Estonian mythology, creating a connection to local cultural identity. These works are integrated into the landscape where visitors naturally encounter them during walks.

The estate functions as an event venue managed by a university and offers guided tours through its rooms. The adjacent park includes trails that allow visitors to explore the full grounds.

The half-underground palm house with its colorful glass mosaic roof displays architectural elements similar to modernist designs and is often overlooked by visitors. This hidden structure represents one of the property's most striking features.
