Aigualluts

Aigualluts is a natural sinkhole in Huesca Province at around 2074 meters elevation where water from the Aneto glacier plunges dramatically into a chasm. The meadow above feeds this cascade, creating a striking transition from open grassland to a sudden void.

For centuries, this sinkhole has naturally channeled glacier-fed waters from the Pyrenees deeper into the earth. The same hydrological process that created the chasm continues to shape the area today.

The place is known by different names across the Pyrenees region, reflecting the multilingual character of this border area. Local guides often refer to it using both Aragonese and French terms.

Reaching this sinkhole requires hiking through mountainous terrain, so sturdy footwear and good physical fitness are necessary. The area is remote and exposed to weather, so dress appropriately for changing mountain conditions.
