Landetxo Goikoa baserria

Landetxo Goikoa baserria is a Gothic farmhouse with solid stone walls and pointed twin windows featuring carved double arches. The central portico displays substantial geometric moldings and exemplifies the craftsmanship found in rural architectural design of this period.

Dating to the 16th century, this farmhouse ranks among the earliest surviving examples of rural domestic architecture in the Basque region. It reflects how Gothic architectural principles were adapted to agricultural community needs in this remote area.

The farmhouse is integrated into the Izenaduba theme park, where visitors encounter traditional Basque ways of life and meet Olentzero, the mythical Christmas figure of local folklore. The space brings together seasonal celebrations and daily rural customs that shaped community identity.

The farmhouse sits at approximately 31 meters elevation and is accessible via well-maintained paths. Guided tours and traditional craft workshops allow visitors to learn about Basque agricultural heritage and rural lifeways firsthand.

The building retains original wooden windows that do not open, decorated with geometric patterns and preserved wooden screens made of laths and tongue-and-groove boards. These features reveal how windows were designed as architectural and decorative elements rather than functional openings in this era.
