Convent of Saint Clare

The Convent of Saint Clare is a Gothic structure in Burgos featuring stone walls, pointed arches, and ribbed vaults that rise heavenward. The building displays typical medieval Gothic design with slender vertical lines and elaborate vault systems throughout its interior spaces.

The convent was established in 1234 following its separation from the Monastery of Santa Maria la Real de Las Huelgas to form an independent religious community. This foundation occurred during the growth of Franciscan convents across medieval Castile.
