Saint Teresa of Jesus established this convent in 1582, marking her final foundation after initial resistance from Archbishop Cristóbal Vela.
The church interior contains several sculptures of Saint Teresa and houses a portrait of Christ that she requested after experiencing spiritual visions.
Religious ceremonies take place on weekdays at 8:30 AM and on holidays at 10:00 AM in the monastery church.
The monastery preserves personal items of Saint Teresa, including an espadrille sandal, a veil, and an autographed letter.
