Asco Valley, Mountain valley in northern Corsica, France.
Asco Valley is a mountain gorge in northern Corsica that cuts through dramatic granite formations from Ponte-Leccia to the Monte Cinto massif. The valley floor follows a river course with natural pools and steep slopes rising on both sides.
The valley served as an early settlement and important passage between coastal towns and mountain regions. A monastery established in the early 1500s shaped life there for centuries until raids forced its abandonment.
The valley holds several Genoese bridges from the 15th century that once connected distant regions and remain visible reminders of historical trade routes. These structures have shaped the landscape and continue to define the character of the area.
Access is via a marked road from Ponte-Leccia heading toward the valley, taking roughly half an hour by car. The valley is open year-round, but summer months offer the easiest access to trails and natural water features.
Natural rock pools form along the river within the valley where clear water collects between granite formations. These pools become especially popular in summer and offer opportunities for swimming in mountain water.
