Capo al Berdato, Summit in Haute-Corse, France

Capo al Berdato is a summit in northwestern Corsica standing at about 2,580 meters and connected to Monte Cinto by the Créte de Sellola ridge. Multiple hiking trails depart from different trailheads, and the D147 road provides vehicle access through the Asco river valley.

The name reflects Genoese naming conventions used until the mid-19th century, when the mountain became known by its French form. The Corsican name Capu à u Pardatu remains the official designation today.

The mountain sits near the village of Asco, where shepherds traditionally built small stone shelters along the paths to rest during seasonal movements. These simple structures reflect how people have lived and worked in this highland region for generations.

The best climbing season runs from May through September when trails are dry and conditions most stable. Sturdy hiking boots and weather-resistant clothing are essential since conditions can change rapidly at this exposed elevation.

The peak serves as a drainage divide where water flows in opposite directions: tributaries toward the north and west feed the Asco river, while those on the south and east flow into the Golo system. This hidden feature shapes the landscape in ways most hikers never notice.
