Moel Tŷ Uchaf stone circle

Moel Tŷ Uchaf stone circle, Bronze Age stone circle at Moel Tŷ Uchaf, North Wales, Great Britain.

Moel Tŷ Uchaf stone circle is a Bronze Age stone circle in North Wales consisting of 41 upright stones arranged in a roughly circular formation at high elevation. A central burial chamber built from stacked stone lies at the heart of this arrangement.

This monument was built during the early Bronze Age and served both ceremonial and burial purposes for ancient inhabitants of the region. The construction dates back approximately 4000 years.

The stone circle shows how communities used this hilltop as a sacred place and expressed their connection to the land through stone. Today visitors can walk around the arrangement and sense why this location held meaning for those who built it.

The site is best reached on foot by following a walking path from a distinctive red postbox near the Afon Llynor bridge in the area. Weather can change quickly at this elevation, so sturdy footwear and weatherproof clothing are advisable.

The burial chamber was not simply sealed after one use but was reopened over many generations for additional burials. This suggests the site held lasting importance as a place of remembrance for the community.
