Cyrniau Nod

Cyrniau Nod, Mountain summit in Powys, United Kingdom.

Cyrniau Nod is a mountain summit in the Berwyn range of northeastern Wales, reaching 667 meters in elevation. The terrain is characterized by extensive peat bogs that cover much of the moorland.

The summit was previously classified as a Marilyn mountain until recent surveys showed that Foel Cedig nearby has greater prominence. This reclassification adjusted its status among peaks in the local range.

The name Cyrniau Nod means Mark Cairns in Welsh, following the traditional place-naming practices of the region. This reflects how local communities have long identified geographic features through their natural or distinctive characteristics.

A dedicated track provides access to the summit area, offering visitors a way to avoid the difficult peat bogs. The path is well-established and significantly easier to navigate than crossing open moorland.

The Snowdonia National Park boundary passes directly through the summit, making it a point where two protected zones meet. Multiple rivers including the Afon Tanat and Afon Cedig have their sources on its slopes.
