Ascreavie, Country house in Angus, Scotland
Located north of Kirkton of Kingoldrum, Ascreavie House stands as a 19th-century residence featuring traditional Scottish architectural elements and extensive grounds.
The property was sold in 1540 by Arbroath Abbey to James Ogilvy of Cookston, marking the beginning of the Ogilvy family's long association with the estate.
The grandfather of author J.M. Barrie, Alexander Ogilvy, was born at Over Ascreavie in 1788, connecting the estate to Scottish literary history.
The estate contains walking paths through gardens that showcase specimens of Himalayan plants, including numerous rhododendron varieties collected by Major George Sherriff.
Major George Sherriff, who purchased the property in 1949, integrated rare plant specimens from his Himalayan expeditions into the estate's gardens.
