Church of Our Lady & St Alphege, Bath, Roman Catholic church in Oldfield Park, Bath, England.
The Church of Our Lady & St Alphege features a three-arched loggia with Byzantine columns, constructed from Bath Stone rubble with red roof tiles from Lombardy.
Built between 1927 and 1929 by architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, the church received its Grade II* listed building status designation on August 4, 1975.
The interior columns display intricate figurative carvings by William Drinkwater Gough depicting scenes related to the Virgin Mary and St Alphege.
The church provides level access to main areas, street parking within 250 meters, and bicycle storage facilities for visitors arriving by different modes of transportation.
The design draws direct inspiration from the Early Christian basilica of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome, though the planned full-height campanile remained unbuilt.
