Brighton i360, Observation tower in Brighton, England
Brighton i360 is a 162 meter tall observation tower at the seafront with a glass viewing pod that rises to 138 meters. The pod accommodates up to 200 people and provides views of the city, the sea, and the surrounding landscape.
The tower was designed by Marks Barfield Architects, the team behind the London Eye, and opened in 2016 after construction began in May 2014. The project emerged from a long planning effort to create a new landmark for Brighton's waterfront.
The Sky Bar in the viewing pod serves drinks from Sussex wineries, Harvey's Brewery, and local distilleries. Visitors experience the region's craft production while enjoying views of the city and sea from above.
The best time to visit is during clear weather when visibility extends the furthest and the view is most rewarding. Access by lift is straightforward, and the viewing pod is fully accessible.
The tower holds the record as the world's most slender structure of its kind, achieved through a cylindrical design that distributes weight efficiently. This innovative approach allows the tower to remain thin while supporting large visitor numbers.
