Beckington Castle, Grade II* listed castle in Beckington, England

Beckington Castle is a three-storey stone building in Beckington, England, featuring gables topped with decorative finials on the front and sides. The structure shows clear architectural lines from its original period with distinct divisions across its facade.

The building was constructed in the early 1600s by William Long, a prosperous clothier and benefactor of Beckington Church. It replaced a medieval structure on the same site, reflecting the wealth and influence of its builder.

From 1945 to 1970, the building operated as Ravenscroft School, becoming a familiar place for generations of local students. The school served as a community anchor during that period, with families returning for decades.

The building underwent comprehensive restoration between 1995 and 1996 and now serves as a private corporate headquarters. Visitors can view the exterior of the structure from the street, though public interior access is not typically available.

The property gained attention in real estate history as possibly the first house in England marketed using ghost stories as a selling point. This unconventional approach made it a curious example of early promotional creativity in the housing market.
