Ullet Road Unitarian Church, Grade I listed church in Sefton Park, Liverpool, England.
Ullet Road Unitarian Church is a Grade I listed church building in Liverpool combining Gothic Revival and Art Nouveau architecture. The structure features red Ruabon brick with rusticated red sandstone details and slate roofs, while also containing a hall with medieval character and an interior garden enclosed by historic brick walls.
The building was completed in 1899 and grew from a Presbyterian congregation founded after the English Civil War. The group relocated multiple times before establishing itself at this location.
The stained glass windows feature designs by Edward Burne-Jones through Morris & Co., and the vestry ceiling displays paintings by Gerald Moira representing virtues. These decorative elements shape the interior character and connect the building to the Arts and Crafts movement.
The church is located on Ullet Road in the Sefton Park area and is accessible by public transport. Visitors should note that regular opening hours apply and it is wise to check ahead about visits or events taking place.
The building made history in 2012 when it became the first religious institution in the United Kingdom to register a civil partnership for a same-sex couple. This milestone reflects a long tradition of openness within the congregation.
