The Church of St Mary features a prominent octagonal spire rising 11 meters above a 15-meter single-stage west tower with copper sheet covering.
Built in the 12th century, the church structure includes a 15th-century main body that underwent restoration work by Charles Edmund Giles in 1865.
The church contains numerous memorials dedicated to local villagers and houses an 1891 William Sweetland organ funded by Reverend George Pridham.
Located on Bath Road in West Harptree, the church maintains regular worship services and manages administrative tasks through the parish office in the Village Hall.
Reverend Robert Wolfall, commemorated within the church, made history in 1578 as the first Anglican to perform Holy Communion in North America.
