Adavi, Kerala

Adavi is a protected forest area in Konni with the Kallar River running through its center and offering walking trails across dense woodland. The landscape includes riverside plains, wooded hillsides, and open spaces where different plant and animal species find shelter.

The forest was developed as an eco-tourism destination in 2010 through partnership between Kerala Tourism Development Corporation and the Department of Forests. This collaboration aimed to combine conservation with economic benefits for local communities.

The place reflects how local communities have maintained their connection to the forest through generations of living and working within these lands. Today, visitors can observe how residents continue to use and care for the woodland as part of their daily lives.

The area is accessible during daylight hours and visitors should bring comfortable shoes and water since the paths have wet and wooded conditions. River boat trips are available, but it is wise to check in advance whether these operate, as they depend on water levels.

The forest is known for its river coracles, traditional boats built and operated by local boatmen for centuries. This craft tradition is an integral part of local identity and gives visitors an authentic way to experience the river.
