Entracque Power Plant, Hydroelectric power station in Province of Cuneo, Italy
The Entracque Power Plant operates with two dams at different elevations, using Lago della Piastra as the lower reservoir at 956 meters above sea level.
Construction of this power generation facility started in 1962, requiring the excavation of 1.3 million cubic meters of soil before operations began in 1982.
The facility received its name in recognition of Luigi Einaudi, who served as President of the Italian Republic from 1948 to 1955.
The power station generates 430 gigawatt-hours annually through its pump-generators, providing electricity for 160,000 households in the Piedmont region.
The underground power station contains two separate systems: the Chiotas-Piastra with 1,184 megawatts capacity and Rovina-Piastra with 133.67 megawatts capacity.
