La Nuda, Mountain summit in Lizzano in Belvedere, Italy
La Nuda is a mountain in Lizzano in Belvedere that reaches 1827 meters in elevation. The terrain transitions from thick forests in lower areas to open grasslands and sparse vegetation at the top.
The mountain was originally called Alpe delle Pielle, a name that referred to the local fir trees covering the slopes. Over time cartographers changed the designation to the current name Monte La Nuda.
The name La Nuda comes from local dialect and refers to the bare grasslands and ridges visible at the peak. Visitors notice how the landscape opens up and becomes more exposed as they climb higher.
Multiple marked trails lead to the summit, with the main route from Rifugio Cavone taking around 90 minutes to reach the top. The best conditions for walking are when the weather is dry and visibility is good.
The eastern face shows a sharp boundary between forests and meadows that looks like deliberately cleared sections. This natural line creates an unexpected visual pattern that becomes striking as you climb toward the summit.
