Corno alle Scale, Mountain summit in Emilia-Romagna, Italy.
Corno alle Scale is a mountain summit in Emilia-Romagna rising to 1,945 meters with marked steep drops on its eastern side. The massif displays extensive grey sandstone formations that shape the rugged profile of the peak.
The mountain range took on its present geological structure during the last ice age, forming a large cirque with neighboring peaks Monte Cornaccio and Il Cupolino. This formation continues to define the landscape of the region today.
The slopes of Corno alle Scale served as the training ground for Italian Olympic skier Alberto Tomba during his early career development.
The ski resort sits with direct road access before the slopes, which span approximately 13 kilometers of skiable terrain. A system of six lifts connects the various elevations, with artificial snow coverage securing 90 percent of the terrain.
The mountain has two distinct summit points: Punta Giorgina at 1,941 meters and Punta Sofia, connected by a walkable ridgeline trail. This dual structure makes the place interesting for hikers who can explore both points on a single connected route.
