Guido Sutermeister Museum

The Guido Sutermeister Museum is an archaeological museum in Legnano housed in a restored 15th-century building with original features like coffered ceilings and ancient columns. Five exhibition rooms display local archaeological finds, Greek artifacts, Roman objects, and an extensive coin collection.

The collection spans from the Copper Age to the Lombard medieval period, documenting the long history of settlement in this region. The artifacts were gathered over several decades and reveal continuous habitation from ancient times through the Middle Ages.

The collections here reflect how people lived across different periods in this area, from early settlements through the Middle Ages. The artifacts give visitors a sense of daily life and the connections between local communities and the wider Mediterranean world.

The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday with morning and early afternoon hours, plus shorter Sunday access, and offers free guided tours by reservation. Visitors should check opening times in advance and arrange tours ahead of time for the best experience.

The museum preserves impressive funeral altars, sarcophagi, and fireplace remains discovered in Renaissance homes around the area. These household objects offer a rare look into the lives of wealthy families from that period.
