Monte Mauro, Mountain summit in Brisighella, Italy.
Monte Mauro is a summit located between the Senio River and Sintria Stream valleys in the Emilia-Romagna region. The mountain offers expansive views from above across the valleys and surrounding countryside.
A castle called Castrum Tiberiacis stood on this mountain from 932 onward and served as a strategic position for centuries. The structure was eventually abandoned around 1506, leaving little visible trace today.
The small chapel at the summit serves as a focal point where visitors pause and take in the surrounding landscape. People come here to enjoy the view and experience the quietness found only on a mountain.
The path to the summit takes about half an hour and several routes are available to choose from. The different trails allow each visitor to find a hike suited to their abilities.
Beneath the mountain lies an extensive gypsum cave system with underground streams flowing through it. These hidden waterways run invisibly beneath the feet of hikers above.
