The Museo Archeologico Paolo Giovio occupies Palazzo Giovio, presenting collections that trace the evolution of human presence in the Como region through artifacts and exhibits.
The museum opened its doors in 1897 and holds objects from prehistoric times, including significant discoveries from excavations in the Como area over multiple decades.
The exhibition spaces contain Egyptian artifacts, Greek vases, Roman mosaics, bronze sculptures, gems, and coins that represent different civilizations throughout history.
Located at Piazza Medaglie d'Oro 1, the museum operates Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, with regular admission at 5 euros and reduced rates at 3 euros.
The ground floor features a Roman Lapidary section and displays an extensive Roman mosaic floor recovered from Perti Street in Como during archaeological excavations.
