Casa Pedraglio

Casa Pedraglio is a rationalist residential palazzo in Como featuring double apartments with extended glass balconies that create a light, airy visual effect on the facade. The structure combines glazed elements with cement surfaces to achieve this floating quality.

Architect Giuseppe Terragni designed and built this residence between 1934 and 1935 during the height of Italian rationalist architecture. The project emerged when this forward-looking design approach was gaining traction in Italy.

The building displays typical rationalist materials with blue concrete slabs and marble aggregate that echo the natural tones of Lake Como. This color scheme subtly connects the structure to its surrounding landscape.

The building sits at Via Mentana 6 near Como Nord Borghi train station and continues to serve as a residential complex. Its location on a main access route makes it straightforward to reach and observe from the street.

The original design called for additional spans and three side balconies, but only one row was ultimately built. This incomplete realization of the architect's full vision remains visible in the structure today.
