Museo civico di Cabras, Archaeological museum in Cabras, Italy
The Museo civico di Cabras is an archaeological museum housing 44 stone sculptures from Mont'e Prama, including figures of fighters, archers, and boxers as well as models of ancient tower structures. The collection documents the material culture of the Nuragic civilization and also displays objects from the Phoenician city of Tharros.
The museum was established in 1997 to preserve important archaeological discoveries from the region representing different ancient civilizations. The displayed objects come from various historical periods showing human settlement in the area from prehistoric times through antiquity.
The stone figures display archers, warriors, and boxers from the Nuragic period, revealing how this ancient society valued combat skills and individual strength. Visitors can observe the detailed carving of weapons and clothing that shows the daily life and social status of these people.
The museum is located on Via Tharros and open daily, with hours that vary by season to accommodate visitor traffic. Wheelchair access is available throughout the building, and clear signage helps you navigate the exhibition spaces easily.
The museum also holds finds from a Roman shipwreck including lead ingots that reveal the coast was an important trade route for centuries. These underwater discoveries complement the land-based artifacts and tell the story of commercial activity spanning thousands of years.
