Villino Ximenes is an Art Nouveau villa in Rome's Nomentano district, built on a square plan using polished Sicilian limestone. Its outer walls are covered with ceramic tiles showing floral and plant motifs.
Architect Ernesto Basile designed the building in 1902 for sculptor Ettore Ximenes, who took part in shaping the decorative elements. It was built during a period when Art Nouveau was spreading across Italy.
The dining room features leather-covered walls, golden mosaic elements, and painted friezes showing foods from different seasons. This decoration reflects the taste of an artist who treated his home as a total work of art.
The villa sits on Via Bartolomeo Eustachio and currently serves as a university guesthouse. Access may be limited, so it is worth checking conditions before planning a visit.
