Palazzo Cannavina, Three-story palace in Campobasso, Italy
Palazzo Cannavina is a three-story palace in Campobasso with a quadrangular layout and a prominent Baroque entrance portal. The structure displays the refined architectural details typical of Italian aristocratic residences.
Originally built between 1500 and 1530, the palace was substantially rebuilt in the late 18th century when Michelangelo Salottolo purchased it for 1800 ducats. This reconstruction shaped its appearance for subsequent generations.
The palace served as a family residence where two private chapels reveal the religious importance for the household. Its coat of arms featuring lions and a pine tree above the entrance displays the family's standing in the local community.
The building now functions as a hotel with six suites, each equipped with stone fireplaces, mini-fridges, Wi-Fi, and flat-screen televisions. Several rooms provide direct access to spa facilities for added comfort during your stay.
Each suite preserves original frescoes from the 19th century that blend with contemporary art, creating layers of different periods within single rooms. These painted walls offer a surprising historical character that visitors often miss.
