Villa Fanzago

Villa Fanzago is a Gothic Revival residence in Bassano del Grappa with pronounced vertical architectural lines and elaborate decorative details across its facade. The interior impresses with Venetian-style flooring patterns and reflects design influences from the Venetian tradition.

Luigi Aliprando Fanzago, a lawyer and World War I veteran, had the building constructed between 1925 and 1926. The Province of Vicenza later acquired the property and converted it to house a school library.

The villa displays two versions of the Fanzago family coat of arms, both artfully integrated into the building's decor. These symbols tell of the identity and pride of the family who commissioned the structure.

The building is open to the public today and houses a school library, which may come with some restrictions on access. It is worth checking beforehand which areas are open to visitors and during what hours.

Many building materials were imported from Austria, giving the structure a distinctly European character. This choice reflects the owner's international outlook and his commitment to quality in construction.
