Hisaya Ōdori Garden Flarie, Urban flower garden in Ōsu 4-chōme, Nagoya, Japan
Hisaya Ōdori Garden Flarie is a flower garden in the Ōsu 4-chōme district of Nagoya, Japan, made up of six themed areas that combine indoor and outdoor spaces. The garden runs along the wide Hisaya Ōdori boulevard and is directly connected to a shopping complex.
The garden opened in 1998 as part of an urban greening project along the Hisaya Ōdori boulevard. It was extensively redesigned in 2014, adding new areas and tightening the connection with the adjacent shopping center.
The Crystal Garden is a glass greenhouse where tropical plants grow year-round, regardless of the season outside. The contrast between the cool outdoor air and the warm, humid interior is immediately noticeable when you step inside.
The garden is within walking distance of Yabachō subway station and easy to spot from the street. Visiting at different times of year is worthwhile since the planting changes with the seasons.
One of the six areas, the Asian Garden, draws its design from Southeast Asian resort landscapes, which gives it a feel very different from the rest of the site. Just a few steps away, the Harmony Garden is planted with roses and clematis, placing two contrasting garden worlds side by side.
