Ōita Prefectural Culture Center

The Ōita Prefectural Culture Center is a modern music venue in Ōita with two main concert halls of different sizes. The iichiko Grand Theater accommodates around 2000 people, while the iichiko Oto-no-Izumi Hall provides a more intimate setting with around 700 seats.

The center opened in September 1998 and marked an important expansion of cultural infrastructure in the prefecture. This opening significantly strengthened the cultural offerings available in southwestern Japan.

The center hosts performances throughout the year ranging from classical orchestras and operas to contemporary music and traditional Japanese performances. This range of events reflects the cultural identity of the region and draws audiences from across the prefecture.

The venue is located within the Oasis Hiroba 21 complex and sits conveniently about 10 minutes on foot from JR Ōita Station or around 7 minutes by car from the expressway. The central location makes visiting straightforward for audiences from across the region.

The building features specialized rehearsal spaces, meeting rooms, and exhibition areas that make it a versatile venue beyond just performances. The stage technology with adjustable width allows flexible configurations for different art forms.
