Oasis Hiroba 21, Skyscraper in Ōita, Japan.
Oasis Hiroba 21 is a tall mixed-use building in central Ōita, combining shops, restaurants, public facilities, and a broadcasting center in one structure. It rises over several floors and serves both everyday visitors and the wider public through its varied spaces.
The building opened in January 1998 as part of a project to breathe new life into the center of Ōita. It was built during a period when many Japanese cities were reshaping their downtown areas with new mixed-use structures.
The building houses a prefectural cultural center where local artists and craftspeople show their work to the public. Depending on the time of visit, you may find an exhibition or a live performance reflecting the artistic life of the region.
The building is located in central Ōita and can be reached on foot from the main train station. If you arrive by car, parking is available directly within the building.
The NHK Ōita Broadcast Center is based here and produces radio and television programs for the whole prefecture every day. This means that while people shop or eat on the other floors, an active media operation is running in the same building.
