Ōshiba Sluice, Dual-purpose road bridge and sluice in Hiroshima, Japan
The Ōshiba Sluice spans 470 meters across the waterway, featuring a cable-stayed design that incorporates both water management controls and vehicle passage functionality.
Constructed in 1965, the Ōshiba Sluice emerged during Japan's period of rapid infrastructure development, marking a significant advancement in regional water management systems.
The structure connects to Oshiba Island, where seasonal oyster houses allow visitors to experience traditional Japanese seafood cultivation methods of the Seto Inland Sea.
Visitors can reach the sluice by taking a bus from Akitsu Station on the JR Kure Line to Kuroji stop, with parking facilities available on the Komatsubara side.
The facility integrates with Kōtsū Traffic Land, featuring a dedicated go-cart track where children learn traffic rules in a controlled environment.
