Koyama Castle, Mountain fortress in Yoshida, Japan
The castle features a system of triple moats, stone walls, and earthen ramparts positioned strategically on elevated terrain overlooking the region.
Built in 1571 under Takeda Shingen's command, Koyama Castle served as a supply point and military base until its capture by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1582.
The castle museum displays a collection of samurai armor, representing the military traditions of feudal Japanese warriors during the Warring States period.
Visitors can reach the castle by taking an express bus from Shizuoka Station to Yoshida High School, with the journey lasting approximately 40 minutes.
The round umadashi entrance structure incorporates architectural elements specific to pre-Edo period hilltop fortifications in Japan.
