Nezu Memorial Museum

The Nezu Memorial Museum is a museum in Yamanashi housing an extensive collection of pre-modern Japanese and East Asian art. The institution contains several of Japan's most significant cultural artifacts across its rooms and galleries.

The museum preserves the former residence of entrepreneur Kaichiro Nezu, who assembled an art collection during the early 20th century. He dedicated himself to gathering these works over many years and eventually opened the space for public viewing.

The museum displays traditional tea ceremony utensils that show how this practice evolved across different periods. You can observe how the craftsmanship and design of these items refined over time.

The site is accessible from the nearby train station and offers a calm visit through its galleries. Plan adequate time to explore the collections at a comfortable pace.

The property preserves several traditional structures including a Nagayamon gate and a historic storehouse. These buildings stand as examples of the craftsmanship and architectural style from an earlier era.
