Hottarakashi Onsen

Hottarakashi Onsen is a day-use hot spring facility in Yamanashi with two separate outdoor bathing areas positioned on different levels. Each bath section offers sweeping views across the Kofu Plain and toward Mount Fuji in the distance.

The facility was established to preserve traditional Japanese bathing culture using natural alkaline spring waters with therapeutic properties. The mineral composition of the waters has been valued for wellness purposes over time.

Following Japanese bathing customs, visitors wash thoroughly before entering the communal baths, where they can experience sunrise viewing while soaking in mineral-rich waters.

The facility opens one hour before sunrise and stays open until 22:00, allowing flexible arrival times for visitors. Arriving early offers a quieter experience, particularly if you want to enjoy the morning light over the landscape.

The two bathing areas differ notably in their architecture: one features wooden construction while the other is built from natural stone materials. This architectural contrast allows visitors to experience two distinct settings in one location.
