Daizōkyō-ji

Daizōkyō-ji features traditional Japanese architectural elements, including chamfered pillars and intricate roofing designs throughout its main hall structure.

Founded in 718 AD by monk Ninmon, the temple received national historic site designation in 2013, marking its enduring presence in Japanese religious history.

The temple belongs to the Tendai Buddhist sect and houses a principal statue of Amida Nyorai, representing core elements of Japanese Buddhist practices.

Visitors can reach the temple within 40 minutes by car from Oita Airport or take a 30-minute drive from Usa Station on the JR Kyushu Nippō Main Line.

The temple's main hall, constructed in the 12th century, displays the Amida-do architectural style and contains murals recognized as Important Cultural Properties.
