Mount Tochihara

Mount Tochihara is a 531-meter summit in the Yoshino district with several hiking routes through dense forest. Multiple trails wind through woodland vegetation, with the Tochihara Broadcasting Relay Station stationed at the peak serving local radio transmission.

The mountain gained recognition as part of the Nara 100 Mountains collection and belongs to the ancient Yoshino Sanzan mountain range. Its status as a geographical landmark reflects long-standing practices of mountain reverence in the region.

Hahime Shrine sits along the forested trails as a spiritual focal point for the area's inhabitants. It grounds local traditions and religious practices that visitors encounter while moving through the mountain.

Several trailheads with parking are available for hikers to begin their climb on the mountain. Spring and early autumn offer the most favorable conditions, though visits are possible throughout the year with appropriate preparation.

The summit hosts a broadcasting relay station that transmits radio signals to the surrounding valley. This technical infrastructure adds a modern chapter to the mountain's history beyond its role as a hiking destination.
