Vigolzone Castle

Vigolzone Castle is a medieval fortress with a rectangular layout and distinctive towers marking its corners. Two square towers stand at opposite corners, while a large angled tower anchors the left side of the structure.

The fortress was built in 1330 and replaced an earlier structure that had been destroyed roughly a century before. It was constructed as a strategic stronghold under the control of the powerful family that ruled the region at that time.

The fortress served as a school during the 15th century, providing education to the local population. The rooms designed for learning are still visible within the castle walls.

The interior is open to visitors and displays various historic rooms across multiple levels. It helps to take time exploring the layout and understanding how each space served different purposes within the fortress.

In 1888, a celebrated Italian poet visited the castle and was impressed by its beauty. He expressed his admiration in verses dedicated to a notable local figure.
