Mount Kasatori

Mount Kasatori rises to 1,953 meters with multiple hiking trails winding through dense forests and rocky terrain. The vegetation shifts with the seasons, creating different landscapes throughout the year as you move between lower and upper elevations.

The mountain served as an important landmark for local communities, with its name derived from the Japanese word for hat because of its distinctive shape. This name reflects how people have long observed and understood the landscape around them.

Small shrines are scattered along the mountain paths where hikers stop and reflect on their journey through the landscape. These modest structures show how the mountain holds meaning for local people.

The hike starts from Shinchidaira Bus Stop with regular services connecting from Enzan and Yamanashishi stations. Weekend visits between April and September offer the most reliable transportation options and pleasant hiking conditions.

The summit marks the source of the Tama River at Mizukan and offers views of the Southern Alps, Mount Fuji, and the Okuchichibu Mountains all from one vantage point. This rare combination of three major landmarks visible together makes the summit a special viewing location.
