Kurokabe square, Traditional shopping center in Old Town Nagahama, Japan.

The Kurokabe Square features a collection of artisan shops, galleries, and traditional buildings centered around a former bank structure with black walls.

The area evolved from a 1577 development initiated by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who transformed Imahama into Nagahama as an administrative capital.

Glass artisans maintain workshops throughout the square, producing handcrafted pieces that showcase the region's commitment to traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

The square connects directly to Nagahama Station, providing rail access through JR West services on both the Hokuriku Main Line and Kosei Line.

The former Nagahama Station building near the square, constructed in 1882, stands as Japan's oldest preserved railroad station structure.
