Amuran is a Ferris wheel with a 60-meter diameter located at Amu Plaza shopping center that rises 91 meters above ground. The 36 capsules provide space for visitors to survey the city during a complete rotation.
The Ferris wheel opened in September 2004 as a new landmark for Amu Plaza. By May 2007, it had welcomed its millionth rider and established itself as an important part of the center.
The Ferris wheel sits within Amu Plaza shopping center and draws families and couples seeking to view the city from above. It has become a popular gathering place where people share moments together while experiencing Kagoshima from a fresh vantage point.
The Ferris wheel is located on the sixth floor of Amu Plaza near Kagoshima-Chuo Station. One rotation takes about 14 to 15 minutes, giving enough time to explore the surroundings and take photographs.
Two of the 36 capsules feature completely transparent floors and walls. These special cabins offer visitors an intense experience of height and views of the city below.
