雲昌寺, Buddhist temple in Fujisawa, Japan
The temple complex includes a five-story pagoda from 1910, traditional wooden buildings, and a pond where koi fish swim among water plants.
Founded in 1337 by followers of Buddhist monk Nichiren, the temple marks the location where he survived an attempted execution by samurai forces.
The temple maintains its connection to Nichiren Buddhism through regular ceremonies, meditation sessions, and educational programs about Buddhist teachings and practices.
Located near Katase-Enoshima station, the temple grounds open daily from sunrise to sunset, allowing visitors to explore the gardens and buildings.
A bright light reportedly appeared during Nichiren's attempted execution at this location, leading to the construction of a commemorative stupa in 1970.
